Karen Mashino

Born in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan

Education: Etoile Ballet School – Yui Ode, Jinushi Kaoru Ecole de Ballet School – Kaoru Jinushi and Sheila Ballet School – Sheila Lima in Japan.

Dance from the age of six, Karen’s awards include First Prize at the Hirakata Ballet Competition in Japan and she has won numerous awards in prestigious competitions in Japan and was a finalist at the Youth America Grand Prix 2007.

Her classical repertoire includes the grand pas de deux and Aurora’s Act III variation from The Sleeping Beauty, the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker.   Principal roles include Kitri from Don Quixote. She also performed Nut cracker and Don Quixote with Jinushi Kaoru Ballet Company.

In 2013 Karen joined Mystic Ballet 2. Her repertoire with Mystic Ballet includes works by Sergei Vanaev, Lauren Edson, and Austin McCormick. She performed Lauren Edson’s Sun and Steel at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival Inside/Out Series 2013. In 2014, tours included performances at Bitef Theater and Terazije Theater in Belgrade, Serbia.

Karen loves to take picture in her free time.
